The idea for this photograph came to me 19 years from when it was actually made.  I was sitting at a cafe' bar in Hampden, hon...aka: Baltimore...when this image exploded through my head.  I drew a quick sketch on a napkin and wrote the poem, Open Your Ribcage.   The first person I asked to model for it was a waitress at the cafe'.  But she said no.  She had strong shoulders, so I kept a look out for that.  19 years later, I found a model that had strong shoulders and was interested to help me bring the poem to life.

The poem wraps around the sides of the canvas on this pristine image.
